Awesome fork. Want.
I made this dress this week. I used New Look 6459 for the basic pattern. I used a black cotton for the lining and the top. The overlay is this cool net my mom gave me with lime green flowers sewn all over. The straps are a sheer ribbon I folded in half and topstitched. It closes in the back with a zipper and hook and eye closure.

I made both these awesome peices over the last week or so. The skirt is a wrap skirt with a cool stripe of lace cotton at the bottom and a ruffle. The shirt was a recon from a long sleev-er that got bleach stains on it. I crocheted a neckline from an old tee shirt (project seen on http://www.threadbanger.com/episode/THR_20080418) and I added a handsewn applique on the front over the last stain. I think it turned out great!

I love this website! Everyweek they have two shows, Decor it Yourself and the original Threadbanger. They show you how to make lots of cool clothes or crafts for the home from recycled/thrifted goods. The hosts are very entertaining and the whole show is very “green” and DIY oriented. I just love it! I have been totally inspired to not just sew my clothes from fabric by the yard now, but to give other older items a new life.
This week on Decor it Yourself, Meg shows us how to make our own cleaning supplies and bring a little green into our spring homes. Love it!

“For the first couple years you’re making stuff, what you’re making isn’t so good. It’s not that great, it’s trying to be good… But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, your taste is still killer! And your taste is good enough that you can tell what you’re making is a disappointment to you.” -Ira Glass
